Application of proply gallate

Food additives Propyl Gallate(Food grade FCC-IV)
Propyl gallate (PG), also known as propyl gallate, has a molecular formula of C10H12O5. The relative molecular mass is 212.21. As Chinese  “Hygienic Standards for the Use of Food Additives” (GB2760-2011) stipulates: Propyl gallate can be used in food fats, fried foods, dried fish products, biscuits, instant noodles, instant rice, canned nuts, cured meat products, etc. The usage amount is 0.1g/kg.

Propyl gallate Chemical properties Milky white needle-like crystals or white to light yellow-brown crystalline powder, odorless, slightly bitter, melting point 150℃. It is relatively stable to heat, and is beneficial to decomposition when exposed to light. It is purple or dark green when exposed to copper and iron ions, and it is hygroscopic. It is easily soluble in hot water, ethanol, propylene glycol, glycerin, cottonseed oil, lard, peanut oil and ether, but hardly soluble in cold water. The pH of 0.25% aqueous solution is about 5.5. Rats have oral LD503800mg/kg and ADI 0-1.4mg/kg (FAO/WHO, 1994).

Propyl gallate is also a feed agent that is allowed to be used in China and widely used abroad. Chinese stipulates that it can also be used for edible fats, fried foods, biscuits, instant noodles, quick-cooked rice, canned nuts, dried fish products and cured meat products, and the usage amount is 0.1g/kg. The ability of PG on lard is stronger than that of BHA or BHT. When it is mixed with BHA or BHT, the effect of synergist is added.

PG is also an oil-soluble agent that is allowed to be used in China and widely used abroad. The ability of PG on lard is stronger than BHA or BHT. When it is mixed with BHA and BHT, synergist is added, but the effect on noodle products is not as strong as BHA and BHT. my country stipulates that it can be used for edible fats, fried foods, biscuits, instant noodles, quick-cooked rice, canned nuts, dried fish products and cured meat products, and the usage amount is 0.1g/kg.

Propyl gallate is a food and feed additive. Used as a pit oxidant for fats, lards, etc., it has a strong effect, but it has the disadvantage of coloring. The dosage is less than 0.1g/kg. When used as a feed agent, the * dosage is 100 ppm. It can also be used in cosmetics. Rat oral LD50 is 3.8g/kg.
